Izayuh Reciprocate (Feat. Kita Mahal)

-

Beautifully capturing a blissful balance between contemplation and passion, Izayuh and Kita Mahal collaborate to gorgeously organic and calming results.

Reciprocate is quite stunning, simple in arrangement and refreshingly humble in its quiet verse delivery from both rappers, but it also weaves in a subtle yet striking hook; which resolves each outpouring perfectly well.

Backed by a meandering ambiance of freestyle vocal flavours, guitar and rhythm for the most part, Reciprocate offers a gorgeously soothing vibe, topped off faultlessly by the melodic union of Izayuh and Kita’s voices as the final moments rain down.

At its core, an easy four-chord descending pattern is the basis for the spoken-word-style performance, and built around this are equally laid-back layers that naturally further the song’s sense of realism and purity.

Interwoven amidst all of this is of course writing that’s decidedly open, honest and revealing in terms of the struggles at hand – regrets, mistakes, broken hearts. The hopeful brightness of the music contrasts this gritty undertone really well, and in addition, both vocalists add a level of quiet confidence and recognisable style, which ultimately elevates the entire sound of Reciprocate to all the more impressive levels.

Humility reigns and sharp bars emerge calmly for a track that authentically reflects upon difficulties and overcoming. It’s a vibe, in short, and crafted with care. That title and concept is also fairly familiar yet fresh in the songwriting realm – another box ticked by the duo. I look forward to hearing more.
