Songwriter and artist Irin brings a little identity and originality to modern pop, with the fast-paced, rhythmically addictive and memorable Mad At Me.
Long-form vocal outpourings meet with a stylishly organic underlying guitar riff, for a song that’s immediately interesting yet catchy, and quick to pour through a multitude of ideas and references. The delivery, that leading voice, also proves delicate and expressive along the way – the balance works beautifully.
Irin’s versatility grips the listener for its creative edge and skill combined. Imagine something like Regina Spector but with a twist of modern pop and RnB intertwined for an all the more eclectic final listen.
Things even veer off towards rock to reinforce the rising passion of the final quarter, and what seems initially to be a mellow, quiet hook, soon becomes a more explosive and catchy version of itself – an earworm that’s likely to keep fans coming back for more.
Really nicely-crafted, great songwriting and faultless vocals, original and impressive – Mad At Me is stylish and smooth yet structurally unusual enough to appeal to an unlimited audience. This one’s an easy hit for the Spring season. I look forward to hearing more.
