Dark and distorted alternative Hip Hop carves out a compelling new lane for rapper and creative INTITI. Standing tall on his latest release KARMA, the WavveLength Records artist brings together a haunting riff, nostalgic bass and beat combo, and gritty, dark and unsettling vocals that prove captivating and faultless in flow.
Creative sound design and performative flair is a huge part of the unmistakable voice of INTITI. The latest single showcases that trait amidst a boldly distinct yet catchy and dynamic track, and the repertoire to date maintains it but also depicts a clearly versatile set of soundscapes and stories.
INTITI’s previous release A Dance in the Dark is quickly recognisable for that vocal fry and depth – the dynamic between the whispers and the heavier moments, the haunting riff. Here there’s something of an industrial overtone to the production though, an ambiance and melodic fluidity, as well as some fearlessly revealing, vulnerable lyrics that feel authentically human.
Then taking things back to 2023, the brilliantly evocative Paralysis united that iconic voice with a softly soulful hook melody and another immersive, atmospheric and deeply moving arrangement. A personal favourite for its stylish intertwining of alternative rock and dark rap, the track and video prove hypnotic and provocative as they pour through, and highlight the limitless possibilities that lie within artistic originality.
More recently, INTITI featured on gothxm’s track The Suffering – a hazy and spacious trip hop soundscape, with otherworldly tones and vocal clarity letting a whole new side of the INTITI sound connect. The sense of story, the personal ache and honesty, the sharpness and clever poetry of the bars – everything engages; a dark and fascinating ode to inner turmoil and desperation.
The Suffering is a defiantly relatable but also distinctly intimate and isolating listen, perfectly designed from the clarity to the distorted distraction – an impassioned and again dynamic performance, brought to life by minimal but purposeful production that works its magic with ease.
