Passionate soul-rock amidst a plethora of addictive grooves – Hybrid Blues’ new self-titled debut album is a fine collection of engaging, seductive originals.
From the anthem-like vocal passion and addictive rhythms of Adios, through the sublime and satisfying solos of a classic blues-rock-kissed Ain’t Got Time, things start off strong and refuse to fall back throughout the completed project.
Featuring faultless instrumental unity, nostalgic guitar-work and a brilliant level of passion and dedication to the moment from all involved, Hybrid Blues offer up a playlist of brilliantly refreshing, classic yet strangely applicable songs – the playlist in full proving every bit as good vibes infused as the best blues-rock driving anthems from a simpler time.
From mellow reflective moments to keys-led bar-fight-ready funk and soul, the eclecticism and balance between poetry and personal anecdotes is strong throughout.
Devil Within is a definite highlight, but really – the album in full is where the genuine experience lies. Turn this one up loud for the final quarter of the summer and see the colder months in with style. Hopefully there’s a live show to look forward to from the band as and when the time returns.
Album out August 31st. Check out the band via Facebook, Instagram, Spotify, their Website & Bandcamp.
