HOOPPER MMAM, PART 1

-

Revealing and vulnerable songwriting, intimate vocals and ambient electronic design – an atmospheric deep-dive that fascinates and connects, with lush melodies rising and falling like waves. Italian artist and musician HOOPPER delivers the best of his ethereal musicality, with the original songs of Part 1 from the new album MMAM.

Beginning with Lost Without You, we move gracefully from delicacy to intensity, hazy synths evolving through trap rhythms and dark RnB vibes, towards a mildly distorted peak that’s euphoric in its emotional desperation and outcry. This is an artist making music because he needs to confront these feelings, and that’s what the sound presents throughout.

Vocally HOOPPER meanders from lower-toned contemplation to gritty and passionate heights, fearlessly pouring the ache of loss into his writing – a storyteller and performer captivating for this unique balancing of genuine emotion and skilful ambient production.

This is almost like trip hop in its multi-layered embrace, but the song is structurally complex and long-form like RnB, an alt-pop take that’s increasingly evocative as the soundscape gathers clear and powerful momentum.

Openly unfiltered, MMAM is a diary-like account of personal connection and longing. Don’t Let Me Fall soothes the mood after the first track, presenting a sort of comforting alternative vibe – capturing the essence of desire in a way that helps distract us from the pain of separation and lostness.

Also included with Part 1 are two acapella vocal versions of these songs, strangely hypnotic layers of voice presenting both intimacy and vastness as we reconsider the ache and desire at the heart of both songs. The music is both an expression of emotional depth and weight, and a call out for resolution and help. It’s a journey from grief to hope, and the melodies are admittedly alternative but satisfying, the voice and lyrics undeniably intertwined as they smoothly pour through the airwaves.

HOOPPER holds nothing back with this project, writing without fear, delivering the songs in a way that feels genuinely like an artist performing from the heart; making music as if nobody else would listen, and achieving a piercing realism and escapism in the process that’s rather infectious. The idea is to help inspire an ability to speak freely, without fear, and that’s precisely what MMAM offers to its audience.
