Haris Cizmic Like a Phoenix in The Sun

-

Devotedly thoughtful, fierce yet vulnerable in its honesty and weight, Haris Cizmic’s new single Like a Phoenix in The Sun is all at once immersive, captivating, and fearlessly unsettling.

From simple, perhaps vague beginnings, the near five-minute epic slowly but surely reveals its true depths, and the cascading rock-opera-like soundscape rightfully underlines and magnifies this progression.

Formerly part of the renowned rock band INGRAY – winners of the 2009 Hard Rock Ambassadors of Rock – Haris brings a clear edge of poetic intention to alternative rock and metal.

The new single, a self-defined power-ballad of admittedly dark origins, features soaring guitars and the striking crash of live drums. It also utilises contrast brilliantly, between these heavy moments and the more delicate ones of space and contemplation.

Featuring uniquely recognisable, expressive vocals, and short verse lines loaded with imagery, the very structure of the song allows its build up and chorus to hit with immense impact. The musicianship is also second to none, furthering the reach and emotion of the lyrics extensively, and elevating the escapism and hypnotic embrace of the final track with a fine fusion of passion and precision. Absolutely worth the time it takes to delve in.
