Fearlessly vulnerable new music from the iconic Frida and The Mann – an intimate and delicate expression of poetic reflections on manipulation and control, a quiet to impassioned and powerful representation, of a story and past immersed in the shadows of self-doubt and isolation.
Building from a purely acoustic and nearly whispered introduction, Monsters employs Frida Mann’s unmistakable vocals, and slowly but surely evolves through a story of anger, resentment, confinement. The voice is captivating, and later near-euphoric in its outcry, and as such, this conceptual journey is incredibly passionate, in both vocal and instrumental delivery.
The song has exceedingly gentle bookends, but a rather explosive and empowering mid-section, blending folk and rock for a compelling juxtaposition, and that artistic structuring is perfectly in tune with the poetic metaphors and themes that meander throughout the soundscape of Monsters.
