Uplifting African grooves and lush, expressive vocals relay stories of struggle and conceptual, topical depth. Ghanaian Gospel artist and philanthropist Felicia Boadu captures a tropical bounce and heartfelt, gorgeously harmonised musicality, with the unique optimism and storytelling of new album Possible God.
Blending lyrics in Twi (Akan) and English, Possible God provokes thoughts of unity and raises the mood from the moment Amen pours into view – a theatrical celebration that’s structurally and performatively charming, with a live-band aura that’s energised, exciting, and Faithful by nature.
It’s a gorgeous and hopeful introduction to Felicia Boadu, and the album proceeds to keep things eclectic and colourful, with smooth and soulful additions like Do Me Good, helping further draw focus to the economic anxiety, health issues, grief and mental exhaustion of modern African diaspora.
Felicia brings lightness and calm to the space, with long-form, impassioned and creative vocal adlibs and melodies woven into likeable arrangements, all of which let the emotional core and central prayer of the songwriting shine with rightful brightness.
