Lush acoustic guitar riffs and a kind of organic, mellow groove back up nearly whispered vocals, as ELROD captures a sound of his own, and a songwriting approach that’s unique and quite masterful in drawing you in.
Cauterization is beautiful and raw but well-structured. It’s familiar yet completely unpredictable, almost old-school emo-rock during the pre-chorus, and when the drum falls into place, we enter a distinct indie realm that’s intoxicating and quietly passionate.
Everything from the lyrics to the arrangement breathes new life and creative realism into the space. ELROD is humble but effective, the melody short and snappy, the production subtle but purposeful. Vulnerability is bold yet also vague, meaning you can make this your own, attach your meanings and memories, whilst believing that every word is authentic and heavy to the singer.
Really unique, alternative but engaging. I’m keen to hear more from ELROD.
