Something carefree and playful yet emotionally rooted, genre-fusing but intimate, almost acoustic – always colourful. Elare André toys with everything from rhythm to structure and melody, with the indie-alternative distinction of MUSIC FOR ALL OCCASIONS.
Our first introduction to Elare André is Baby, you should get in too – a deep vocal that’s almost quirky, later soulful suddenly, with twists of country, folk, and a constant stomp of a groove underneath.
The song is uncertain at first, later brilliantly satisfying, and increasingly enjoyable. That’s the thing about singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Elare André – there’s an air of the abstract or absurd to the music at first, but there’s a plan, a purpose to it, and very quickly the sound just grabs hold of something inside of you.
I think it’s fair to say that this is true of many of the songs on this album, from the hip hop to the folk, dance, and auto-tuned pop – the likes of And then I paused to take a selfie recapturing any wondering minds. There’s always something impossible to expect, and yet there’s a mainstream pop simplicity to many of the stories at the very same time, gifting an accessible quality to an otherwise experimental, perhaps avant-garde collection.
