Ehson Hashemian You Got It (Single Version)

High-tempo electro-pop brings a soundscape as colourful as the artwork – Ehson Hashemian ignites a retro dance fire, with his cleverly energising single You Got It.

Building the groove consistently from the start, You Got It features a wave-like chord pattern that simply rises and falls throughout. The layers are a chaotic mix of synths, bass, keys and beats, and as an instrumental mix, the track is fairly retro and distinct in itself.

Soon enough, we’re welcomed into the vocal side of the song, a concept and melody that guide us with a more meandering structure and songwriting style. The voice is deep and expressive, suddenly directing things towards the influence of the eighties – it’s a characterful delivery, ultimately both familiar and unpredictable as the song goes on.

Short lines rise and fall like the beat, for the verses of You Got It. Then for the hook, this lower-toned, performative vocal evolves suddenly, for a near-falsetto burst of passion and positivity. ‘You want it – You got it’ rings out and resounds, instantly grounding the song amidst the swirling, looping satisfaction of this earworm of a hook.

Fusing distinct production and the simple outcry of that hook melody, You Got It essentially feels like a movie-ready alt-pop hit – something slightly nostalgic, lo-fi and home-made, but written and arranged in a way that naturally gets it lingering in your mind.

Ehson Hashemian keeps things simply but snappy as ever, and presents one of his most addictive and memorable pop songs yet.
