Creatively blending industrial rhythms with an edge of funk and a quickly anthem-like spoken vocal to mix things up all the more so – this four-way collaborative release makes light work of eclectic artistry.
Enjoyable from the outset for its somewhat timeless and carefree sense of style, Funkupa proceeds to weave in what feel like fragments of a plethora of a different songs. However, it all works brilliantly in this setting.
The various voices, the moments of simple synths, keys, followed by the absolute weight of that retro dance rhythm as it pounds through the mix; all of this leans in favour of unique expression and strangely addictive alternative music.
An easy favourite from the Dobie and Brutu Music corner for its sheer personality and attitude, Funkupa showcases the power of collaboration and simultaneously promises a quirky indie dance anthem to light up the alternative scene in a refreshing way.
