Three years into their journey as a band, Cardiff’s own CRYSTALLINE are quick to impress with this hard-hitting yet brilliantly melodic, soulful new single.
Driving with infectious riffs and a fine balance between intensity and softness, Sweet Tooth floats along somewhere between the pace and vibrancy of pop-punk, the emotionally loaded honesty of grunge, and the poetic delicacy of a singer-songwriter approach.
The whole thing is brilliantly well-structured, building up from quick beginnings, through humble verses, to the full throttle embrace of a uniquely crafted rock track with a refreshing lyrical backbone. There’s also a striking contrast between the brightness and indeed lightness of the leading voice, and the weight and manic energy found elsewhere. The word manic shouldn’t be taken the wrong way though, there’s an impressive level of unity between band members here – a quality that speaks volumes on behalf of their time together, their dedication to the cause, and their passion for the process.
The song builds and builds, consistently throwing in new details and moments that cascade around you and further intensify that energizing power.
