Stylishly progressing from delicacy to intensely uplifting, immersive sound design, Coumarin’s Dreams is every bit as dreamlike and emotional as its title implies.
Lighting up the room from the offset with a finely crafted wave of synths and fragments of gentle melody, the track soon introduces the lead vocal-line – an equally tentative, emotive yet well-mixed, quiet voice, which lays bare an aptly reflective, intimate hit of songwriting.
This story-line progresses in a consistently intimate way, balancing poetic references with those that are far more focused on the individual story – a balance that connects for its authenticity and humanity.
Throw in a mighty build-up, stunning production all round but a still fairly organic set-up that’s easy to imagine in the live setting, and what we get is an act who offer immensely engaging, all-encompassing escapism. Dreams is decidedly personal, yet it also openly speaks to the deep thinkers, romantics, and those enveloped in times of uncertainty in equal parts.
Beautiful. Hopefully there’s more music to come.
