Making sure to take the time to write something meaningful, something that connects and is relatable but presents itself in a new and profound manner – these are the qualities that give a song the strength to break through the noise, and these are precisely the qualities Chupapi offers up in his music.
Beneath Her Heart is a fascinating song, beautiful in nature for its heartfelt intention and the delicacy of the acoustic guitar and the vocal sound, but more than this – there’s a certain way the artist has with writing, a certain approach that takes familiar ideas or experiences, and re-crafts them under a compelling new light.
The musical aspects are on point from the start, there’s no question as to whether or not this sounds good – the guitar sound, the artist’s voice, the mellow energy and the intimate nature of the lyrics; all of this appeals from the offset for its calmness and purity. As the track progresses though, the lyrics and indeed the subtle artistic choices that follow help light it up as far more than just a ‘nice’ song.
Not that there’s anything wrong with nice songs, far from it – they give the world beauty much of the time. To take it to the next level though is to quietly promise that there’s plenty more depth and creativity to come, and as you make your way through Chupapi’s catalogue of tracks on Spotify – that’s a promise set to be kept.
Chupapi’s creativity knows no limits, is not confined by genre or expectation. There are dashes of contemporary hip hop and RnB elsewhere in his playlist, but the more you listen, the more you connect with this lyrical freedom and the apparent honesty and emotion with which he crafts his verses.
While Beneath Her Heart is a definite highlight for its unique level of peace and softness, this professionalism and these skills performance-wise span throughout every release. Well worth getting lost within if you’re looking for something new this summer.
