Chris Pannella - Margo - Stereo Stickman

Chris Pannella Margo

-

Gentle lo-fi synth notes and the quiet strum of an acoustic guitar, an intimate vocal and writing style that feels diary-like in its tentative expression and longing. Chris Pannella delivers the closing song from his EP The Four Seasons of Her, and its a sleepy to euphoric and heartbroken story of love lost and fading passion.

Beautifully raw and authentic in performance, Margo showcases a kind of Jeff Buckley vocal softness and range, as Chris Pannella takes us through the subtle waves of emotion towards the full intensity of the song. The second third is heavy, bluesy, bold, and this change in mood and volume is massively impactful, adding further to the diary-like free flowing energy of the song – something encountered all the more so for the closing third.

The independent aura shines brightly, the vocal nuance and the writing all feeling deeply personal and pure, but also fiercely relatable. You make it your own, despite it clearly being Chris Pannella’s unique journey through heartbreak, and that balancing of two worlds is key to connecting in music. I look forward to hearing more.
