Organic and soulful blues rock is gifted an expressive new lane, as Toby Award-winning duo Boy Blu lead with soaring guitar solos, unique folk vocals and stories, and a psychedelic overtone that’s nostalgically atmospheric.
Whiskey In The Jar is the band’s latest single, a creatively fresh take on the classic Irish hit from Thin Lizzy, with equally retro visual effects to further reinforce that old-school escapism. The video employs yesteryear effects and colours, as well as clips of the array of bands who’ve previously covered the iconic song in both the studio and on stage.
Clearly inspired by the history of rock and music from throughout the ages, Boy Blu showcase the best of their abilities with this release, uniting smooth and characterful vocals from singer Lisa Blu, with a passionate guitar line and performance from Sean O’Connor – an arrangement utilising both contrast and complementation within an honourable mix.
It’s a strong dynamic, and the talent is genuine – the ability and passion for the genre unquestionable. As such, Boy Blu have set themselves up with a new four-piece backing band, and will be officially hitting the road on tour throughout 2026.
