Bobek’s Mind Echo In Love

-

Poetic ballads from ambient and intimate to uplifting and powerful – Bobek’s Mind celebrates the creative production and songwriting of the modern era, with the heartfelt originals of Echo In Love.

Through The Grey Skies introduces things, a slight country twang from the guitars, a big-band rhythm and country vocals of short lines reflecting on this story of love and longing. Imagery is key, assisted writing depicting a sense of the modern era at play – mild dissonance and unsure references alongside the personal humanity of love that’s essential for this kind of songwriting. The track uplifts for its chorus, the ‘silver lining’ resounding amidst a euphoric celebration and resolve – a great introduction to the album.

Across The Waves follows and the piano lead is instantly more haunting and evocative, a sense of uncertainty reflecting more imagery of the ocean and metaphors for love. Once again, intimacy evolves into passion, but its subtle here – the production minimalist, this story of ‘tethered souls’ again uniting the modern songwriting approach with a more traditional poetic style.

The album Echo In Love notes eleven tracks in full, with some upbeat moments of simple good fun scattered amidst the otherwise melancholic longing and romantic adoration of the majority.

Lost In Your Shadows at the penultimate moment is another example of the piano and vocal pairing, the classic poetic imagery and complex programmed framing of ideas, with a lush piano riff and deeply evocative, rather timeless melodic build. The chorus is huge, optimistic in tune but uncertain in lyric – a powerful use of contrast that works its magic well.

To finish, the piano and voice roll on, unmistakable now in this setting, and personal lyrics walk us through a story of two souls worlds apart but united in love. A male vocal adds a welcomed dynamic, presenting a kind of stage-ready theatrical performance in full, and ultimately one of the most emotionally loaded tracks of the album.

It’s a huge crescendo, perhaps the project’s most impactful and memorable song yet, and a beautifully hopeful, heartfelt way to wrap up the deeply moving sentiments and songwriting brightness of Echo In Love.
