Bio Borg - Thick and Thin - Stereo Stickman

Bio Borg Thick and Thin

-

Cincinnati alternative rock project Bio Borg intertwines the pace and riff-strong embrace of progressive metal, with raspy punk vocals and echoing sentiments, throughout a chaotic and cinematic yet compelling arrangement.

Thick and Thin is all at once boldly nostalgic for its anthemic raw passion, and unmistakable for its subtle fusion of genre traits and the guiding voice and story at the forefront.

Coming in at less than three minutes in full, the track follows an easy metal riff and chord combination that’s quickly catchy, through lyrics both poetic and fearlessly revealing. It’s a deeply personal ode to complex feelings and experiences, and the voice pours every ounce of energy and grit required into the performance, in order to give these words and this pace a certain ferocity and value.

We’re in a uniquely blended realm, somewhere between nineties punk rock and something like early eighties metal, except neither of these really capture the performative flair and lyrical darkness and depth of Thick and Thin. The tempo and the rise and fall melodic pattern alone are enough to create a space that’s intoxicating when listened to at volume, and the fascinating cyborg artwork is equally attention-grabbing alongside this. Hopefully there’s plenty more music to follow from Bio Borg.
