Binoy - The Great Alone - Stereo Stickman

Binoy The Great Alone

-

Heartfelt and fun in equal parts, eclectic and often chaotically creative – LA’s Binoy introduces a fearless and colourful sound – diverse yet intriguing, and enjoyable at every step.

The Great Alone offers thirteen original songs, and each one fits the unique sound of the artist, but simultaneously refuses to adhere to the previous song’s implied building blocks.

Self-penned as ‘borderless pop’, The Great Alone initially invites a sort of mellow degree of escapism – think surf rock softened by singer-songwriter tendencies. Breathy vocals and smooth melodies meet with easy guitar lines and personal stories of love and adoration. It’s a humble collection, beginning with the rather anthemic but still chilled-out Heartstopper, and perhaps more importantly, it showcases the unique vocal style and sentiments of an artist with an original tone and approach to indie pop.

As we shift into the conceptual mystique of (Cactus), and the subsequent tribal dance flavours and vocal warping of BoysBoysBoys, the playful nature and limitless artistic expression of the project becomes all the more clear.

Binoy impresses with this album, entertains and engages, offers something original and uninhibited by expectation. It’s a strong project with clear threads of personal identity, charm, and flair.
