Indie rock of anthemic highs and conceptual lows, darkness and upbeat optimism carefully combined. Dumpster Fire is Beldon Haigh’s latest poignant re-release, following a video that racked up over a million views in two years, and it’s set to launch in unison with the band’s Rock Opera Premiere at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe.
Nostalgia first connects for the indie rock stomp and call-and-response vocal familiarity of Dumpster Fire. Soon enough though, the striking imagery and darkness of the lyrics raises the bar significantly, and the song weaves a compelling, poetic, unignorable web of provocative storytelling.
A mighty performance, humble yet effective – the lead vocal grows all the more raspy and impassioned, as the song approaches a hugely gripping crescendo; something that will likely blow the roof off at the upcoming live shows.
