Nostalgic electronica and Enya-esque whispers of lyric-free voice collide and collaborate, throughout a uniquely crafted single that also makes fine use of subtle but effective production traits.
From one moment to the next, we’re surrounded by the gentle hiss of white noise in the distance, the hum of technology or reverberating bass against walls of industry, before the voice moves suddenly closer, more intimately mixed and raw sounding – making way for a deeper audience connection that ultimately lingers once the piece has ended.
Instantly recognisable and consistently unique, Within Reach lets its characteristics stand tall from the outset, and so with each revisit to the song there’s only room for the imagination to roam further, and for the critical mind to notice and appreciate the multitude of production intricacies; the likes of which light up the progression and the outer edges brilliantly.
A fascinating take on contemporary sound-design and performance. It will be interesting to hear where else the music takes Amarälle in the coming months and years.
