Utilising contrast well, Tony Stark leans back and forth between the delicacy of a drum-free, melodic chorus, and the absolute groove of the verses with their story-telling and presence.
Lyrically focused, impressive in arrangement and likeable in its general fusing of genres, Tony Stark is as stylish and confident as the title implies, but not in an overly bold or attention-grabbing way – far from it. There’s a degree of vulnerability to the concept, to the music and mood, and all of this helps make it even more likeable.
Really nicely done, fearlessly honest, professionally captured, with a catchy central bar and faultless performances from all involved. Refreshingly unexpected.
