3mind Blight Blight Side

-

Soaring through from the artist who barely pauses to breathe, 3mind Blight intrigues with the imposed identity of his new song title Blight Side.

All expectations aside, this one hits with impact from the outset – the sheer and crisp presentation of those live-sounding drums, paired with the immediately drama-inducing weight of the guitars and chaotic, excited hi-hits; Blight Side soon injects the presence of a timeless metal classic.

Faultless vocals, powerful progressions and a constant level of change that captivates – undoubtedly the work of a heavy metal band with years of experience on the scene. But that’s only partly accurate. 3mind Blight, the solo artist, reinvents himself often, but always there’s a creative core to the music, and in this case, in my opinion, a perfect chemistry has been realised.

Vocally faultless has to be reinforced as a strength, from the quiet to the intense, the mellow to the fast, the gentle to the gritty and fierce – Blight Side showcases it all; a structurally complex and infectious arrangement that begs for you to turn up the volume and fall into the experience entirely.

Then there’s the lyrics. Usually with a 3mind Blight release it’s the voice and the lyrics that are first to strike. With Blight Side, however, after the implied humour of that title, then the quick appeal of the recording quality and raw hard-rock edge, it’s easily the overall mood and changing status of the music.

So we delve into the vibe, the impressive musicianship, the character and power of that unmistakable voice, and somewhere along the way we start to build a stronger than ever connection with the words.

“Does anybody hear me? I’m screaming it out. I can’t listen to the voices inside of my head, cause even they have doubt.”

Featuring multiple shifts in melody and ferocity, Blight Side hits with a different kind of artistic integrity. This feels like the authentic inner workings of the artist at hand, toiling through these everyday struggles with the natural grace and fearless volume of a musician backed by years of experience at the creative wheel.

Brilliant. Quirky yet dark, inherently juxtaposed by its own drowning sense of confusion and uncertainty – achieving a mighty degree of relatability in the process.
