Summit details the story of the climb, the hustle and hardship that leads an artist or rapper through struggle to success. Rather than take the road commonly traveled though, that of volume and gimmicks to grab attention, there’s something decidedly honest and humble about this track. The jazz-infused, nostalgic nature of the soundscape is part of it, the tone of each vocal and the lyrical prowess is another – everything said is relevant, deeply human, open, and unapologetically real.
The journey is long, difficult, unpredictable, and Summit tells the tale without omitting anything that mattered along the way. At the same time, the music is overflowing with good vibes – a summertime bounce and a subtle sense of possibility and strength washes over the listener, drawing them towards the lyrics and the rappers at work naturally, thus strengthening that connection all the more so. You listen intently because the music and the delivery is so humble, and while you’re there you pick up on a whole new array of reasons to stay invested.
