Universal Flow “Trance is a modern day symphony. Its biggest power is a faithful army of fans around the globe.”

Trento and Dobie recently joined forces to become Universal Flow – a force for the better in the world of trance and EDM. Following the release of their single Thinking Of Youwhich is currently making waves online, we caught an interview with the duo to find out more about how this all came to be and what their intentions are with the project. Here’s the conversation in full.

Hi guys – thanks for the interview. How has 2018 been for you both?

Hi! Thanks for having us! It’s been a great year for us. We are entering the last days of 2018 in a very positive atmosphere, with great results and upcoming projects.

What prompted this collaboration, and in what way does the music differ when crafted from two minds instead of one?

Music is art, but also, music is an exact science. It has soul and represents mathematical principles. The number of possible combinations is enormous and by adding two sources of codes the number of combinations multiply. We recognized each other as good sources of these combinations.

Thinking Of You is stunning – perfectly euphoric when listened to at volume. How did you get started with this?

Good question. It all started about 4 months ago. We always try to start our songs as an idea which will grow even before we get to a DAW. We always look ahead so each song is part of a bigger puzzle, which is our set. Thinking Of You is a Vocal Trance club banger. It has a perfect opening which develops to a vocal drop and reveals a catchy progression. There was a moment at half of the way, when we realized that we have something special with this track. The number of hours put into it and attention to details is what took it from a good idea to a polished product.

You say your plans are to bring this sound to the live stage with keyboards and improv – what is it about that style of performance that appeals, and when can fans expect to catch such a show?

Playing songs you produced is a special feeling. It also has many technical and creative advantages. This allows us to follow the flow and make the most out of every moment. Fans benefit from diversity, as improvisation makes each performance different. We will start our tour as soon as we finish the first set, as we will play exclusively our tracks.

Do you ever disagree creatively, and if so – how do you overcome that?

So far, working together was a real pleasure. Everything runs smooth. We made amazing progress in a short period of time. Since we have similar views, we rarely disagree, but when we do, we test both ways and always choose what’s best for our final goal – building the finest electronic music brand. There is no place for ego in this journey. Our brand’s name is bigger than two of us and always stands above.

What are your thoughts on the trance world at present and the genre’s current role in EDM in general?

Trance music is a modern day symphony. Its biggest power is a faithful army of fans around the globe. We are among them. This is why Trance music will never disappear from the scene. It holds its place and seems immortal. Trance music described the transition from the analogue to digital world in the 90’s, and now represents the precision and complexity of a modern day production. We believe it will also describe the high tech future we are about to see …

What are your plans in the coming months as a duo?

We have a very busy schedule. Sometimes it feels like we are working around the clock, and there is always something to be done. Building all platforms, dealing with administration and other technical stuff parallel with music production and other creative tasks is a very time consuming job. Our main goal is to finish Trance and Techno sets as soon as possible and start with live performances.

What’s the best thing that could happen for you in the near future as artists?

Our music has a story that we encoded into it. We are hoping that more and more people will hear our story and get the message …

Is there anything else we should know?

Here is a fun fact! One of our members is same nationality as Nikola Tesla, and the other one is from the country where Nikola Tesla was born… They met by coincidence while competing on Spinnin’ Records Chart and became friends. A few days ago they won a gold place Main Chart medal with Thinking Of You …
