Hi Todd – thanks for the interview, congrats on the brand new single! Just to set the scene, where are you based right now, and how has your week been?

I’m in Burleson, Texas hometown of Kelly Clarkson. Busy week as usual!

What can you tell us about the song Parrot Bay – what does it mean to you, and how did you come to write it?

The song was inspired from the sound of Jimmy Buffett like Margaritaville. We all need some kind of escape in this world.

How long have you been making music, and how has your approach, mindset or style evolved over time?

I began making music at the age of 5. Began learning piano and guitar at the age of 10. In high school I started a rock n roll band and began to write original music. Later on I met my now close friend country music hall of famer in Texas Sonny Burgess who introduced the genre of country music.

Part of your aim as an artist was to revamp classic country – what inspired you to pursue this, and by what means have you re-crafted the classic style?

My first country song to learn was Whiskey River by Willie Nelson, then on to Luckenbach, Tx by Waylon Jennings. Naturally both Texas boys and a major influence on my music today. Yes, true believer in the classic country style even back to Hank Williams era!

Has it been difficult to break through as a country songwriter in Texas, or is there a clear pathway carved out for those with the talent and work ethic to climb?

It has been extremely challenging to compete with the Nashville scene. I feel that I’m a modern pioneer in today’s country music market. Hopefully making a path for others to follow.

Who or what has been your greatest inspiration when writing songs?

When I was young my first records were Elvis Presley. He was so versatile in blues, country and rock and roll. Major influence in my song writing and performance!

What are you the most excited for as an artist approaching 2022?

This is going to be a year of celebration. Getting back to the new normal after Covid. More new country releases and more shows to come!!!

What’s something about you that people might be surprised to hear?

I started attending professional Lacrosse games in Fort Worth. We now have our own team “Panther City”! I love this sport!

Is there anything else we should know?

Thank you to all those who support me in the music industry! Happy New Year ya’ll!
