The Villain In Me is self-reflective, countering melody and softness with gritty darkness and volume, and this helps further the introspective push and pull that is these lyrical contemplations and the search for freedom for this confessional villain.
Elsewhere the mellow tempo and catchy anthemic hook of Borrowed Skin is a beautiful bit of songwriting, a softer dose of emotional depth akin to the likes of Staind or Papa Roach, only with that same AI compression and blanket of electronic production to cushion the grit and glamour.
