Atmospheric and intimate all at once, lo-fi keys providing warmth, dreamy vocals and playful rhythms adding a trip-hop sense of expressive guidance, as we dive into something unpredictable, ethereal, and boldly imaginative by nature…

F i k (In You) is a fascinating new single, released by Franco-Lebanese artist Shereen Suleiman and Marc Ernest in unison, and it follows the striking debut Ghareeb to showcase a whole other side of the artist, singer and composer Suleiman.

Featuring a music video shot in Lebanon, shortly after the launch of attacks from Israel, this release is undoubtedly an artistic and historical moment captured in time, and the free flowing words and spaces, the changes in pace and the uncertainty of the concept, all feels like a poetic outburst both gentle and intense in hindsight.

Marking the start of a new collaborative journey between Ernest and Suleiman, F i k (In You) precedes the single Habibi Baby, and talks of romantic longing, of thinking of someone and missing them constantly; writing for them, singing for them, and aspiring to be better in the process. In reality, however, this significant other is imaginary – not a real man, but a fictional one, and that edge of unexpected quirkiness is key to the playful nature of the music.

The song is fiercely self-reflective, introspective, but also provocative – a quiet letter to another, or rather, to the self, and with a certain fusion of funky and heartfelt that’s again boldly unique to the Shereen Suleiman unfiltered artistic approach.
