Aura Davis Do You Hate Me Now?

Heavy contrast captivates, as dreamy guitar-led verses and singer-songwriter vocals guide us hypnotically towards an immense and mighty hook. Aura Davis reflects with honesty and vulnerability, for the open and authentic Do You Hate Me Now?

Vocally and stylistically distinct, Do You Hate Met Now? is unusual and musically unique, but also brilliantly satisfying from a songwriting perspective. The verses have a kind of old-school trip hop vibe to me, melodic and charming, unpredictable but effective, and the lyrics further this connection and sense of lostness and self-scorn that is the freedom of thought; through darkness, highs, lows, and everything in between.

A huge indie-rock song in the end, but always kind of subtle and soft – never lacking passion, nor creativity in how the performance shifts and evolves, even adding a rap-like middle-8 – just kind of intimate and diary-like.

Great work from the Swiss-based artist Aura Davis – an evocative, modest and relatable listen, that’s genuinely immersive and strangely comforting to lose yourself within.
