The Straights - Remedy - Stereo Stickman

The Straights Remedy

-

Six years strong and a fine testament to their unwavering passion for and increasing presence within the alternative rock realm. UK five-piece The Straights highlight the very best of their poetic songwriting, gritty and relatable vocals, and fiercely rising instrumental intensity, with the compelling scenery, sounds and ideas of Remedy.

From the delicacy of the opening riff, we’re introduced to the unmistakable voice of The Straights – a front man with a clear level of personality and energy on the mic.

The song itself brings the riffs, melodies, performative charm, the power of the closing guitar solo, and indeed the conceptual intrigue, all at once. We move from moments of quiet contemplation, to those of drama and power and possibility, and this comes in both the lyrical progression and the stop-start arrangement of the music.

It’s a catchy but alternative track, old-school melodic, with nostalgia similarly woven into the lyrics and live-band realism. Remedy is a great modern rock song, in short, recognisable but as its own thing – inspired but genuine, and a superb underlining of all things The Straights.
