From the new EP of the same name, singer and songwriter Elle holds true to the simplicity of piano and vocals, for the imagery and gratitude of Day by the Lake.
Featuring subtle hints of echoing effects, the new single for the most part presents with a refreshing delicacy and humility. Nothing flashy, nothing bold, no sudden moments of volume. The voice is intimate to a point of being almost whispered, and what takes precedence creatively is largely the piano.
Minimalism and appreciation intertwine for a surprisingly distinct song, and one that features unexpected twists of warning and reflection to help make things all the more interesting. The entire EP follows a similar pathway, in fact, and maintains its honesty and calm, as it permits listeners to escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life.
More specifically, Elle is a classically trained musician and composer, and this project is largely inspired by the scenic landscapes of Devon. The artwork and serenity of the sound pay fitting tribute to that.
