The opening track Alien Vibes is all of this, an intense series of paired rhymes, backed by an ambient soundscape and trap rhythm. The artist’s softly distinct voice blends rap and melody throughout a plethora of heart-breaking and dark lyrics that quickly reach out to listeners.
This instant vulnerability is incredibly valuable, and the catchy flow and mood of the track supports that connection well. Then as we move into Lonely N Lost, the mood is up slightly, the energy brighter, but the subject matter continues to speak on this inner turmoil and lostness that is the central theme of Roaming In The Dark.
A touch of acoustic guitar and breathy adlibs help redirect things for the intimate and moving To The Moon. As ever, Dreamz prides this sound on the originality and realism of the lyrics, and here the long-form rap outpouring secures that heartfelt authenticity amidst a likable, colourful and comforting production.
Wrapping things up is a rightfully sleepy ode to the tiredness and reflection that makes up the EP. PEEPHXLE follows an emotive piano pattern and vocal fragments, through a journey more classically emo rap, and beginning with the striking recollection of “Imagine if I really would have died.”
