Jared Hara The Chase / I’m The One You Need

-

Complex artistic sculpting akin to the days when each single was a creative ode to a story and sense of intention. Jared Hara builds up the presence and depth of The Chase brilliantly, evolving from these dreamy trip hop beginnings of quietly whispered vocal melodies, to the full-throttle pace and weight of pop punk and new metal at its peak.

The Chase is just one of a handful of originals that consistently impress from Jared Hara, an artist pouring every ounce of passion and skill into the process of making songs that reach straight for the heart but also engage and impress stylistically.

This release feels all at once like an intimate ode to connection and self-awareness, and a boldly energising anthem of empowerment and possibility. It’s scornful and strangely hopeful all at once, and the lyrics fascinate increasingly as the track rolls along.

Contrast is masterful, moments of delicacy and groove juxtaposed by explosive drops into the pure scream and outcry of metal and pop punk. It’s a nostalgic style, but gifted an original leader and songwriting core – to effectively relight the artistic freedom of the genre.

I’m The One You Need is another example of the artistic versatility and storytelling of Jared Hara. The mood and style are completely different, ferocity guiding things this time around, with playful melodic verses and gritty to X-rated lyrics piercing through the weight and pace of the darker musical aura.

There’s a level of fear and intimidation to this one, reinforcing the shift from the former style to the sheer intensity we’re now presented with. It will be interesting to hear where else the music takes Hara in the coming moths and years.
