Taking influence from the likes of Stevie Wonder and Benny Sings, Dresden’s Flo Naegeli brings a clear love for the process to the indie realm, crafting tracks of precision and softness intertwined across catchy melodies and uplifting soundscapes.
It’s Getting Better is impressively eclectic yet also well-rooted amidst its colourful and harmonised simplicity. Considered the psychedelic warp to mild funk of Far Away, a smoother and drawn out vocal presenting a fresh mood, but the style no less in tune with the organic instrumental grooves that light up the project.
The energy picks up further for the nostalgic anthem Cheap Perfume – another gentle but joyous track, and one that lets the nuances of Flo’s humble yet effective voice really stand tall. It’s an eclectic and likeable collection, indicative of a great songwriter with a clearly unique approach to modern indie pop.
