If you aren’t already familiar with them, allow me to introduce you – Alvvays are a Canadian indie-pop-rock band started by close friends Molly Rankin, Kerri MacLellan, and Alec O’Hanley.
Influenced by all things indie (and a hint of Celine Dion, rumour has it) the band make melodically delightful and joyfully harmonious indie pop rock music. The kind of music that helps you get through a long day of admin duties. Also, actually, the kind of music that makes you want to slam shut the laptop and head out to see some live bands. A perfect combination.
When I listen to Alvvays I’m transported to some other era, one I’ve never visited before, and it seems like a much simpler time – a time when everyone is calm, and nobody is in a rush.
The band reside in Toronto, but they are getting a fair amount of attention lately, and plenty of airplay – hopefully they will be touring the UK very soon. Visit their Website for gig news, and follow them on Facebook and Twitter for the latest updates.
