Organic and passionate, heartfelt and familiar yet inspiring in a fresh way – Andronyx proves a captivating storyteller and compelling musician, throughout a deeply personal yet accessible and beautiful Stephanie.
Feeling like a pop classic from the outset, pairing piano and vocals for an outpouring that’s partly relatable and partly unique to our protagonist’s tale, Stephanie builds up the anticipation throughout – increasing the layers, the intensity and energy of the voice, and the revealing, powerful openness of the lyrics.
By the latter half, following a stylish pause to near-silence, the full scope of the track drops in for an immersive and mighty wish of wellness and joy for a significant other. ‘I really hope you’re in a better place’ resounds and repeats gorgeously, feeling like an immediate anthem for those with kindness at their core.
It’s a nostalgic song of gratitude, of appreciation and connection, which talks of never forgetting the names of those who impacted us in a positive manner.
On the one hand, the style is comforting in its familiarity, and on the other – the topic perhaps hasn’t been explored before, and certainly not in such a fearlessly honest, uplifting way. I look forward to hearing more from Andronyx.
