Songwriter and artist Nikitaa returns this summer with another impressive and refreshingly artistic pop hit.
Emerging complete with a captivating series of visuals – purely the artist lost in the moment, with some subtle yet compelling choreography and a few cinematic effects that hold attention with ease – Goddess is a powerful anthem of personal strength and honesty.
The melody is superb, progressing through its various sections in a structurally ideal manner, allowing listeners to feel involved and familiar with the set-up by the time the second half rolls around. The production is also faultless, partly pop-ready but also partly indicative of both electronic and somewhat Indian influences – the rhythms, the layers, instrumental choices.
On top of all of this, Nikitaa puts in a sensational vocal performance, almost seeming to lean towards the bigger and more passionate vocals that once graced the airwaves back in the nineties. Her unique flavor is again subtle but effective, and the singer carries the meandering melodies and weight of the song with seamless ability and absolute confidence.
Beautifully done, a strong contender for mainstream airplay and a great way to bring together alternative and popular qualities, even the vastness of the world’s music, within a single catchy and empowering anthem.
