Nostalgic hazy recordings let the intimacy and honesty of Lilliane’s sound bring forth an engaging and immersive debut. Hollywood is a melodic and whispered then impassioned presentation of introspective visions, thoughts of the future confronted by its truth, scattered throughout long-form melodies and verses that often follow a simple rhythm and electric guitar pattern in a reverb-kissed arena of live performance.
Lilliane’s realism is totally refreshing, and the creative shifts of these songs, the sudden intensity of an Americana drop during the title-track, all helps further secure interest in this singer and songwriter whom clearly understands the authenticity of real life in light of witnessing the absurdity of glamour and fantasy.
Great songs, somewhat blending shoegaze, indie folk and Americana, for a style that feels genuinely expressive of a particular moment in Lilliane’s artistic journey and life.
