Let’s get the record straight – cmon3tta, pronounced see-moe-net-uh, is the work of creative artist Chris Simonetta – a one-man band writing, performing, recording and producing from a uniquely eclectic collection of instruments and influences.
Having teased a multitude of diverse singles over the past year, the 2026 album cmon delivers an all-consuming deep-dive into the cmon3tta sound, compiling strong grooves, soulful refrains, playful creative liberation, and a generally immersive and uplifting vibe that’s both nostalgic and refreshingly original. Think Fatboy Slim to a degree, a comparison from which the opening soulful softness and floor-filler energy of It Don’t Matter None makes perfect sense.
Twney-one original songs make up the cmon3tta album cmon, with some remixes and alternative versions included, and it’s always the songwriting and versatility of voices, melodies and styles that keep things uplifting and interesting.
Away For Daze (Th3m00d Remix) is stunning, a piano-led four-to-the-floor folk dance anthem that’s simple yet striking and euphoric as it gathers impassioned, evocative momentum – a personal favourite not just from this album but from this side of 2026 so far.
Hot Coco adds a little motivation, warmth and scorn all confidently woven together as an encouraging EDM explosion of possibility, and features a welcomed collaboration with Miss Coco Peru. Then we get a touch of retro-electro dream-pop from XOS, contemplative humanity in the poetry, smooth melodies and observations that are provocative make for a captivating blend of qualities.
Then to completely flip the script and remind us of the musician, the raw talent and commitment at the heart of cmon3tta music, Becuz of You (Live) sees an acoustic instrument and raw, reverb-kissed vocal quietly compel us to tune in more closely, for something unexpectedly intimate and vulnerable.
After this, the floor-filler bounce and vibrancy of 98.6 Degrees seems perfectly placed for impact, and Ryan (Mix 2) afterwards is powerful – an emotional echo of something like Massive Attack, only with a twist of fun and flavour that again redirects things towards original artistic play.
Also promising retro gamer tones and fingerstyle guitar intermittently from the likes of 90s Kid Anthem and the starkly contrasted What I Wanna Say (Dear Mom & Dad), and also The Story Of Who I Am, there is so much depth of thought and meaning to this album, alongside the stylistic variation. It feels almost like a greatest hits collection from cmon3tta – the kind of project we can revisit over time, and recapture the moment, while shining a little more light on the journey that led to it.
FALLING is intense, heavy bass and beat adding a classic euphoric dance moment to the project that’s fiercely enveloping. Then we get lightness, electro pop and playful rhythms, for 247365, and later, UNC adds a cinematic eighties twist of further versatility to keep you on your toes and happily entertained.
The mighty checkm8 of course makes an appearance, and a brilliant remix, closing down the project with a storytelling format that’s as unexpected as ever but which marks a likable curtain call for the free-flowing artistry of cmon.
Before 2023, cmon3tta was releasing music under his birth name, Chris Eberlein, then after marriage, Chris changed his last name to Simonetta, and headed more devotedly towards, in his own words, ‘the chaotic world of electronic music.’
As a multi-instrumentalist and producer, cmon3tta notes an extensive collection of synths and controllers at his disposal. These include, but are far from limited tom an Arturia MicroFreak, a Roland Aerophone, and an Alesis VI49. An array of ethnic and unique instruments like the Aura handpan, a rain stick, the Epiphone Hummingbird, and the Magadi Moon-10 Kalimba also make up a colourful arsenal of musical tools, meaning that what you get here is a truly unlimited but also impressively organic album of real music.
Electronic dance tracks with heartfelt twists of character, layers of unexpected creativity, and an always professional, finely-honed finish that lets you fully escape into the sound.
