Marcy P Corazón Sin Fronteras

-

Summer in full swing suits the brand new album from Marcy P from start to finish. Promising fully-loaded productions of live-style Latin Pop, World Music and Dancehall, Corazón Sin Fronteras fires into action with the celebratory crescendo of an instantly captivating Un Solo Latido.

Multi-layered and vibrant, performatively awakening, Un Solo Latido is a bold introduction to this creative corner, and the project refuses to falter therein.

Marcy P holds the energy up higher still, as we progress into the project’s first and perhaps most memorable earworm, Dame Ese Ritmo.

A naturally infectious full-band song, with horns, synths, Latin rhythms and crowd soundbites all surrounding a vocal fluidity that’s both catchy and smooth, this track is an easy early highlight from the 18 programmed originals of Corazón Sin Fronteras.

The crowd sounds of this album help remind us of the unity and positivity, the community and celebrations of the recent world cup season. The album is loaded with colourful optimism and all-together-now peaks, and even strips things back to a more evocative core, for songs like the ballad-style Canela y Sal. Even here, however the huge production maintains its roots amidst the album’s vibe, with elements of ska, soca and Latin Pop all united throughout a seductive melodic journey and story.

Before this, softer acoustic moments take things right back to the bare essentials, with songs like Bajo el Mismo Sol creating a beachside vibe that’s spacious and comforting. The voice is gentler, the acoustic arrangement still uplifting but more inviting of an intimate aura.

It’s important to arrange things with versatility to hold interest, and this highlight track is an evocative peak, both passionate and delicate, at precisely the right time in the album’s playlist.

The project comes to a close initially with the ballad-meets-floor-filler soulful euphoria of Stella, but then we get alternative mixes of some of the best tracks from the collection. Acoustic and Cuban mixes adding essential diversity, different vibes to enjoy these catchy hooks to, and set-ups that would prove intoxicating if made possible in the live setting.

The big-band vibrancy is immense, and shines brightly throughout the alternative versions of five key songs that wrap up the full Corazón Sin Fronteras debut album from Marcy P.
