Something beautifully distinct, creative and evocative – a meandering songwriting landscape, with a vocal nuance and purity that captivates. Tom Morfitt-White reminds us of the power of storytelling, emotional honesty, and musical sincerity, with the timeless poetry and subtle power of Love Me Now.
Vocally quite stunning, Love Me Now introduces the unmistakable tone and lyrical depth of Tom Morfitt-White in a way that feels remisncent of the nineties pop realism that once swept through the scene. It’s nowadays perhaps something of a fusion of Olivia Rodrigo’s revealing approach, and the indie pop organic set-up and looping, passionate hooks of coming-of-age TV soundtracks.
There’s also a hint of something experimental to the song, Imogen Heap comes to mind during the outro layers, among other mild influences, but in the end, this is genuinely one of the most original songs to both surprise and engage with us this year so far.
