Give Me a Minute is the brand new track from artist Cesare, featuring Angelo. Right from the offset, fans of old-school R&B and hip-hop are likely to get a great sense of nostalgia from this track, as well as something brand new to be swept away by.

The featured vocal on the chorus has an impressive strength and style to it that is perfectly in keeping with the sort of mood and melody expressed throughout. You get that hook in your mind straight away, it stays with you, the mellow yet bouncy vibe of the music behind the vocals helps hold it there, and overall there is a cool and relaxed ambiance to the whole thing. It’s works really well as a single. Simple and effective, with an optimistic and generally positive vibe – always something we need more of in the world.

The type of rap that Cesare offers up has a lot to it that is fairly fresh sounding. He’s not simply mimicking other artists and is not particularly reminiscent of anyone else at all – which is great; that voice is his, everything from the tone, the mellow yet deep performance style, and even the slight hint of an accent, you know who you’re listening to. The flow of the rap performance is really easy to listen to, it adds to the summertime vibe created by the music and the chorus melody, and so the whole thing is very complete sounding – every element is united, working in the same direction, setting the same scene.

Some of the instruments used in this track are quite unusual, so although the track has a very classic feel to it – that nostalgia we all crave – there is a lot about it that is brand new, and that’s something which speaks volumes. It’s the kind of track that really gets you geared up for the good times, encapsulating the right kind of mood for summer. Some of those retro synth sounds are subsequently really effective in this setting.

On top of it all, the rap vocal has this thoroughly chilled out sound to it, a mood which passes on to you as you listen; it’s effective, it’s music doing what it should, flowing freely to make you feel good when you listen. Rather than shouting or screaming to get your attention, this leading vocal speaks with a calm sort of confidence – a certainty that is easy to listen to and take on-board. It makes it all very believable, and therefore pretty easy to trust and relax to.

That hook as well, it comes out regularly enough to really leave a lasting impression. The vocal performance is powerful and smooth, it builds a good contrast with the verse vocal, so the whole track feels like an episode or a story, with it’s various ups and downs, and never too repetitive or tiresome.

As the track comes towards the end, the bridge section comes in, a brand new melody and set of lyrics, a nice little twist in the story. As mentioned, those classic R&B vibes really stand strong in this one, right the way through. It’s also worth pointing out that he music is quite flawlessly produced, to a quality that will satisfy fans on any speaker system. It always makes a huge difference when the final mix has been artistically and professionally crafted, as well as the song itself.

Individuality is hugely important in independent music, and with Cesare’s music you get a good mixture of this with a comforting sense of familiarity – the music put out has been written and produced by a lover and evident master of the genre. For where it falls in the music world, it’s a job done superbly, not least of all because of that undeniably catchy and memorable hook. The good news is, there’s plenty more music where that came from – Cesare is a dedicated artist with a whole collection of music for you to delve into.
