The Belle Sounds Light It Up

-

Nostalgia and a crisp, clean, contemporary tone fuse beautifully on this brand new single from Austin’s The Belle Sounds. More than this though, hypnotic songwriting helps the track really hold tight to your attention right the way through – a rare and commendable quality.

Light It Up is a softly seductive and addictive new song, one that paves its own way but stays connected to the underlying concept at all times.

In one instance, there’s a definite eighties vibe to the piece – the retro synths, the verse vocals. On occasion there’s a dash of Kate Bush (the hook, the resolve and the light intensity), and even a hint of Fleetwood Mac – the structure, the melodic development, the interesting lyricism. All in all though, The Belle Sounds do their own thing, and you begin to appreciate this more and more so as the song progresses.

During the latter half, the drums really find a groove that’s beautifully chaotic, seemingly increasing in pace, and to coincide with this the vocals and additional layers gather momentum and energy – making for a hugely uplifting moment that brilliantly rounds up the experience and the underlying sentiments.

This is beautiful, a refreshing and professional yet incredibly creative and expressive sound. I look forward to hearing where else the music takes the band in the coming months and years.
