Easily a personal favorite from Winchester 7 & the Runners so far – In The Morning Light is a quirky yet engaging, calming indie pop-rock classic that’s a blissful joy to listen through.
Emerging complete with a series of visuals that take you on a walk through the natural world, with hypnotic coloring from tree-shattered sun-light, the song leads with a simple indie rock set-up – a quickly memorable guitar progression, a live yet light and laid-back drum-line, and gorgeously gentle vocals that deliver a subtly infectious melody.
There are also a few traits that help really seal the deal in this regard – the meeting between the bends of the guitar and the vocal melody being a big part of that.
The whole thing just breathes life and brightness into the room. It’s a gentle song, but it blends just enough of that Americana swagger with a live-sounding classic indie approach to really connect.
Given that all of us are missing the live music scenes right about now – In The Morning Light helps transport us to somewhere a little more nostalgic and joyful. Really well written and arranged – a timeless beauty.
