The title-track is the opener and is all of this, an unpredictable ode to alternative pop in some ways, later with some rhythmic twists of funk and live-band energy that help bring an anthemic, almost Gospel-like peak.
From the same project, troubled heart is the debut single, and presents a completely different kind of mood. Versatility is a playful essential for Tye David, and here we’re gifted a quiet and intimate ode to love and loss. The humility and softness of Tye’s voice takes precedence, while simple keys and a modest drumline back up the evolution towards an hypnotic hook.
The entire album follows this creative pathway in a fashion, holding close to those soulful vocals, often reaching new heights unexpectedly, and keeping the music easy-going but effective. work it out is perhaps another fine example of the breadth of influence behind all things Tye David, but this album in full is a pleasure to discover for yourself and to let play, whatever the setting.
