When creativity, passion and modern production tools meet to make the perfect storm. Sybilanta is a fictitious modern artist, presented to you by way of a rather sensational EP of original songs.
Beginning with the superb and stunning Acid Rain, the music immediately ticks a lot of boxes. The great riff, the space, the shift from the overly familiar AI vocals to something more gritty, raw, and – dare I say it – real. Then there’s the use of contrast, and the lyrics – a huge part of the music’s appeal. The lyrics are phenomenal, relatable but impossible to predict. The track is both fearlessly alternative, and boldly satisfying, and that quality helps the Sybilanta sound instantly set itself apart.
From the clear influence of Paramore to something a little more indie-emo, Drown blends spoken and screamed angst, across a jolly acoustic production, and moves from the colourful to the intense, with a fiercely edgy and unforgiving lyrical contrast alongside.

This EP is called Falling To You, a collection of personal reflections on the ache of love and heartbreak. The title-track takes us right to the scene of the story, and the use of riffs, the meandering melodies, the diversity of the performance, all rings loudly in the way that Acid Rain did. Juxtaposition is a key aspect of this project, and in many ways, it provides the beating heart of all things Sybilanta.
Cold Shoulder raises the volume and the intensity to immense and unignorable new levels. A painfully scornful, violently confrontational song, which needs to be experienced to be felt or understood. Garbage follows on with further angst, energetic lostness, playful escapism and pace. Something like an alt-rock-Celtic-punk fusion of genres, which stands out for its sheer tempo, guitar solo, and the unforgiving weight and ferocity of the voice.
Then to finish, that magical word returns – contrast rains down by the bucket load. Fuzzy Kisses is its own beast entirely, something like Wet Leg amplified and distorted, softened then re-inflated, injected with a heavy metal dose of alt-rock power, fear, and outright chaos.
Whatever this EP began as, it became so many other things along the way. What’s certain though, is that the music captivates, impresses, engages, and provokes. It’s a sound unlike any other, for now, and a songwriting thread that’s unsettling yet understanding; and unignorable. All the while, the style remains consistent as the focused voice and expression of Sybilanta.
