Introducing an indie track that’s perhaps exactly what the audio doctor prescribed recently. Strommasten reignites the playful flair of eras past, with the genre-blending and characterful anthem Geklaute Nikes.
A quirky ode to modern materialism, Geklaute Nikes is a rhythmically catchy indie hit, with dashes of distortion and funk intertwined amidst a solid pop groove and performance that naturally draws attention.
The song follows a regimented fusion of melody and rap, through a story reflecting on a pair of stolen Nikes, and delivers a natural earworm that’s quite refreshingly laid-back and light-hearted for the modern scene.
Mildly reminiscent of something between the likes of Audio Bullys and Bloodhound Gang, Geklaute Nikes features a colourful production and an enjoyable hook, as it progresses through a unique set-up of instrumental riffs and humble cinematic fragments; heavy bass, sirens, guitars and synths. It’s all minimalist but effective when united, and as you weave in the simplicity of the visuals – these Nike trainers stomping quite addictively to the beat – the whole thing just begs for you to listen more than once.
Brilliantly memorable, a fun and supposedly frivolous indie gem, from an act whom hopefully have plenty more music in the pipeline.
