Releasing as part of Foster Care Awareness Month, former foster care child and lifelong advocate for social change Shari Walker gears up to launch her stunning debut album Heart Twist.
Inspired by the likes of Prince Ea and George the Poet, Heart Twist showcases a deeply thoughtful way with writing and performance. Shari’s spoken word sentiments breathe warmth and optimism into the creative space, backed by the simple calm and comfort of finely-crafted soundscapes and vocal melodies to reinforce the emotion and purpose of each song.
Featuring singles like Her Bus Stop, the project blends story-telling and ambient, immersive audio escapism, to guide listeners through moments of turmoil towards a brighter and more uplifting tomorrow.
Creative entrepreneur Shari Walker approaches the music scene with years of experience in performance and public speaking. Her one-woman stage show SugarFree: Foster Care Cognitive Dissonance won her a playwright award, and the USC Master Of Social Work Graduate is also a Podcast host and has appeared across multiple renowned radio and media outlets.
Heart Twist marks a further leap towards connecting with those who need assistance and support during times of turmoil; specifically those lost within the emancipation from foster care at transition age. A beautiful project, well worth delving into.
