Mellow good vibes and simple layers of production unite for this soulful yet easy-going new release from Samael Senja.
Gorgeously expressive, softly seductive vocals guide us through a quietly increasing soundscape – tribal rhythms, gentle yet energising, surrounded by subtle layers of colour.
Then we get the song-writing, again subtle – a few meandering verses, with well-placed extra vocals for warmth – all resolving well with the easy repeat of the title-line.
The voice rises up passionately, blending RnB melodic progressions with a soul-pop air of brightness, and all of this works beautifully amidst an otherwise effective-in-itself ambient backdrop. The looping music is everything we seek out for study time or relaxing lately, and here Senja has incorporated a gorgeously impressive vocal-lead for a little conceptual presence; and something the singers and soul fans can cling to in the process. Nicely done.
